My Fitness Journey: From Overwhelmed Mom to Fit & Strong at 41

I wasn’t always into fitness. In fact, growing up, I was more of an artsy girl than an athlete. But after I had my first daughter, I had a wake-up call. I looked in the mirror and thought, "What happened to my body?" That’s when my sister told me, “You have to start working out.”

That single piece of advice led me down a path of discovering how fitness could not only transform my body but also strengthen my mind.

👉 Here’s the truth: Fitness is not just about losing weight. It’s about feeling strong, confident, and in control of your body. It’s about knowing that you don’t have to settle—at any age.

The 3 Fitness Lessons That Changed Everything for Me

1. You Need a Plan—Not Just Motivation

Motivation comes and goes, but having a structured plan is what keeps you on track. One of the biggest game-changers for me was hiring a coach who helped tailor a program specific to my body and goals.

➡️ If you’re serious about transformation, you need:✅ A structured workout plan (strength training, cardio, flexibility)✅ A nutrition strategy based on your goals (fat loss, muscle gain, or overall health)✅ Accountability—because let’s be real, it’s easy to slack off without it

2. Weight Training Is the Key to Sculpting Your Body

After I had my third daughter (and gained 70 pounds!), I realized something: Losing weight isn’t enough. When I dropped the weight, I still didn’t love how my body looked.

That’s when I turned to weight training—and it completely changed everything.

💡 If you only focus on weight loss, you may feel “flat” or “soft” after shedding pounds. But when you lift weights, you build shape, definition, and strength.

Weight training sculpts your bodyIt boosts metabolism (hello, more calorie burn!)✔ It makes you feel empowered and strong

3. Your Diet Matters More Than Your Workouts

This one was hard for me to accept, but it’s 100% true: You can’t out-train a bad diet.

When I was trying to lose baby weight, I thought I needed to go hard with HIIT workouts, running, and extreme cardio.

But that only left me:

❌ Hungrier than ever❌ Feeling inflamed and bloated❌ Burned out and frustrated

What worked instead? Dialing in my nutrition and tracking my food based on my goals.

For fat loss: Keep workouts lower intensity (walking, strength training, moderate cardio) & focus on calories in vs. calories outFor muscle gain: Increase protein & incorporate progressive strength trainingFor long-term success: Make small, sustainable changes instead of “all or nothing” dieting
